Subject: Some birds I can't identify....

Hi, my name's Sam, I live in the Bannockburn district, Lloyd Nielsen pointed me in your direction. We've been getting some newer birds in our area as of late. A few years ago, some kids in the court used to target the local birds, forcing them away. Since they've left, the birds have been coming back. We've seen rainbow lorikeets, fairy wrens, some resident rather tame sparrows, one named Sparrowhawk, because he comes right up to you for food (Which we happily supply- slightly hardened bread, and hardened cakes, bacon rinds, meat slightly turning), and we've seen two generations of magpies born. (Hence the meat, the magpies love it. They even come up onto the porch in hopes we have something on us.) On top of all of that, we have some galahs, one year, there was a white galah, but no pics were taken, sadly. We also have the usual nectar eating birds.

The last week or so we've had a few birds dropping in regularly that we can't identify. One, I assume the male, is a bright green, his mate is a paler colour, rather greyish. I managed to get some pics of them, and I was hoping you could identify them... Sorry for any blurriness, my camera hates zoom. They stay on the ground mostly, eating seeds and scrounging around, and don't seem bothered by any other birds, though the magpies get territorial now and then.... The male has some colouring on his stomach, it looks a bit orange, but I don't think he's an orange breasted.

I've put some links in at the bottom of the email... the originals seem to have disappeared off my hard drive, so you'll have to copy and paste them. They're direct links to the pictures on my photobucket account. Hopefully, you can help me. I have some friends in America who love seeing pics of the local wildlife, as it's so different to what they have, and I like to give the correct information. "Random parrot" doesn't exactly do much for them, lol.

Thank you for your time :)

xxSam

This says Email and IM, so maybe this will work too, if the above links do not.

If at first you don't succeed... sky diving is not for you......

See what's on at the movies in your area. Find out now.
