We removed two near a nest in Brighton (Melbourne suburb) in 2004 simply by
having a step ladder and the dear departed Frank Stewart going up and
grabbing first one bird then the other! They were kept, not killed, at a
vet's.
A high proportion of the birds in our area (must be released?) have been so confiding that I reckon they could easily be caught with a fishing net.
