A report in today's Sydney Morning Herald states, that following the recent floods, agreement has been reached between NSW and SA governments on water flows through the Darling River. NSW lakes Panamarro and Wetherell will be allowed to fill but not Menindee. Quote "when the lakes are full they are home to more bird species than Kakadu". Flows of up to 148 gigalitres will also be spared for further downstream which is expected to refresh SA's ailing Lower Lakes, keeping them "above their survival minimum for a year" Full article http://www.smh.com.au/environment/floodwater-to-quench-lakes-at-murray-mouth-20100119-mj6q.html Chris Gregory =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
