This morning I saw 3 separate Black-breasted Button-quail (2 males and a
female) in vine scrub near Imbil, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. I first
found the species in this locality six years ago and they have been regular
there since then. Other good birds today included Dusky Honeyeater, Noisy
Pitta and Wandering Whistling-Duck.

Together with the Noosa North Shore site for Ground Parrot, the reliability
of the Imbil site for the button-quail means that the two iconic species
from the Inskip Point-Cooloola region can be reliably ticked much closer to
Brisbane, in and around the Sunshine Coast.
