Regrettably until there are more birders than duck hunters politicians will
pay more attention to hunters.
I found this on http://ssaavic.com.au/ssaa.php?id=192&;

I have to thank our members who took the time to avail themselves of our
website to send a letter to the Premier requesting a Duck Season. They sent
543 letters by e-mail and many more in the post and there is no doubt they
helped obtain this outcome.*
They claim 25000 members in Vic - BA and BOCA probably have around 10000
members between them nationally. If you were a politician and you wanted to
be re-elected who would you take notice of?
