Thanks Tim
It's about time someone published a field guide to juvenile birds :-)
Now that I know where Goschen is I will drop by whenever I'm in the area.

RE: [Birding-Aus] Help with ID -
Goschen Bushland Reserve, NW Vic
Hi David,
Nice to see that you made it up to Goschen BR. Your bird is a juvenile
Hooded Robin. The spotting is typical of juvenile. The white on the tail is
obscured by the angle. For comparison see:

Note also that Hooded Robin are reasonably common at Goschen, and it's the
right time for juvenile birds.
Cheers,
Tim

Subject: Help with ID - Goschen Bushland Reserve, NW Vic
I managed a quick visit to Goschen Bushland Reserve in NW Victoria last
week - Budgerigars, Cockatiels, Owlet-Nightjar, Blue Bonnets, Bee-eater,
Singing and Black Honeyeaters - and one bird that I couldn't identify. It
was around the size of a White-plumed Honeyeater and had quite distinctive
wing markings.
I wasn't able to get very close to it and my photograph is at extreme range
for my camera:

Any suggestions?
David
