Feral peafowl

I heard yesterday that there is currently an attempt to control Peafowl
numbers on Rottnest island. Apparently, the Peahens have been/are being
euthanased and the Peacocks are being left alone. Maybe a Birding-ausser
from Perth can clarify this story.
