Many thanks to all those who replied on and off list. Consensus was
unanimous - Yellow-tinted Honeyeater. Comments (hopefully not out of
context) included
- Very similar to young Fuscous with which it has been lumped in the past.
- Saw two Yellow-tinted HE's in the Musgrave area a couple of years ago and
the distribution map of Pizzey & Knight shows that they occur up to the
Mitchell River on Cape York.
- The pale bill base indicating non-breeding status. Yellow Tinted
distribution reaches onto the Cape across to the Lakefield area. The habitat
photo looks very unsuitable for Grey-fronted but fine for Yellow Tinted.
My original posting was by way of comment on Tim Dolby's request for
thoughts regarding a possible Grey-fronted Honeyeater sighting in the area
around Musgrave, Cape York, and a request for other possible sightings in
the area.
