This morning I had a brief look at a Painted Button-quail at Alison Hone
Reserve near Goulburn, NSW. On looking around the reserve I found lots of
platelets in certain areas, some a long way from where I saw the bird, so I
assume there are more.
Can anyone give me any tips for getting a good look at one?
The reserve is lightly timbered, very little grass, you can walk anywhere, but
the amount of bark on the ground means you make a lot of noise with every step.
Makes me think the only option is to pick a spot and keep scanning for them. Is
that a reasonable strategy, or am I wasting my time even trying?
If not, what's the best time of day for them?
