Here in the eastern suburbs of Sydney the currawongs call irregularly from about 2 am onwards. None of them make the "currawong' call but one occasionally makes a call which sounds like' What if she breaths.' There is a nest about15 meters from our bedroom and I think it is one of the owners who perches on the balcony and gives us a wake up call at first light.
