Don.
Great to hear about the Greater Sand Plover down at Finke sewage works. Its a
really good time to be wader watching at Red Centre's poo ponds!  Yesterday
morning at the Alice Springs sewage ponds at the Red Centre Birdweek event
there we spotted 15 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, 2 Greenshank, 6 Marsh Sandpipers,
a probable Long-toed Stint and a whole mob of Wood Sandpipers. Anything can
turn up in the coming weeks.

Anyone interested in accessing the Alice Springs sewage works for a bit of dawn
birding should come to the "Birds Before Work" event there which is on Friday
25th Sept starting at 6.30am sharp. This will be part of Red Centre Birdweek-
download the full program from
http://www.territorydiscoveries.com/experiences/bird-watching .

Something I'm doing at the moment is registering the Alice poo ponds (and other
sites spread throughout CA) as 'group atlasing' sites with Birdata. It would be
great if the Finke ponds were registered as part of this scheme too so that
more regular data can be gathered from the outback in a systematic way by
anyone who is interested. Read more about it here: http://www.birdata.com.au/

Cheers
Mark
