I have been to trying to trace video of Ashmore Reef without much success.
George Swann who has been there about a dozen times has much video tape but
it is not digital and he is about to go into the field for survey work so
can't assist at short notice. Some who have accompanied me on my eleven
visits took video but I have lost contact and have no idea regarding the
quality or whether it is digital or not. Enumerable still pictures are
available from many sources, slides and digital.

There is a WWF expedition leaving Darwin next week to explore the slick.
Simon Mustoe of Ecology Solutions is involved. Our understanding is that the
slick was moving NE but is approaching Cartier Island which is < 60 km SE of
Ashmore Reef itself, well within the feeding range of species which breed on
Ashmore.

The 2009 eight day Kimberley Bird Watching expedition to Ashmore which I am
leading leaves Broome on 27 October. There may still be a berth available if
anyone is desperate to get there.
