Subject: | Whistling Kites chasing Silver Gull |

This afternoon at the Western Treatment Plant I observed 8 Whistling Kites - quite high up and a fair way away - actively chasing a lone Silver Gull. After a minute or so 6 of the Kites abandoned the chase but the other two kept up the chase for another minute or two before the Gull finally escaped. I have never seen such behaviour before - Kites lack the speed to chase other birds so anyone any ideas why they would do this? =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
