Just a breif note to announce the launch of the program for Red Centre Birdweek
09- the first desert birdwatching festival in the Southern Hemisphere. It can

Red Centre Birdweek 09 is an community event to encourage interest in desert
birdlife and promote birdwatching in Central Australia. It runs from the 19th
to the 26th September. Over the week well over 20 seperate events are offered
ranging from Eaglewatch Live- a telescope vigil on a wild Wedgetailed Eagle
nest to dawn bird walks, bird talks by local scientists, a screening of
'Chasing Birds' and even a 24hr Twitchathon.
Red Centre Birdweek venues include Olive Pink Botanic Garden, Alice Springs
Desert Park (both of which are currently being frequented by Grey Honeyeaters)
Alice Springs Sewage Ponds and Alice Springs Telegraph Station.
