Hi,
I often find myself in conversations about this and I am fortunate to have a
colleague who is not only a contracted National Geographic wildlife
photographer but also a lecturer on photography. Digital image processing is a
technical minefield but the most important bits can be done by anyone with some
care.
Having been furnished with a training session on using LightRoom, I decided to
put this together into an article here for the benefit of Birding-Aus users. It
sets out the few basic steps that anyone who takes digital photographs can
follow to ensure they properly develop images and avoid some of the serious
pitfalls. Here it is:

Simon.
