Individual sightings don't include GPS data. Rather, sightings are organized into collections called "Observations". An observation has a location, where you can enter city/state info and GPS coordinates. Or you can choose not to set the location. The app doesn't do much to force you to collect data in any particular way. The idea is just to facilitate the quick entry of whatever data you want to collect and to export it in an organized way.
