Hi Bob,

At Coutts Crossing, North Coast NSW, we have an annual influx of Striated and Spotted Pardalotes during the cooler months. The presence occasionally of a Yellow-tipped form of the Striated indicates that at least some of these birds are from southern Australia. The yellow-tipped form only breeds in Tasmania.

This year the Spotted Pardalotes have been more audible and visible than any previous year. It appears that the Victorian Spotted Pardalotes may be enjoying a warmer winter on the NSW North Coast. Surprisingly though Striateds, although present, don't seem to be as common as usual for this time of the year.
