Please note that "Nature's Niche" is not in the Singapore Botanical Gardens
anymore (the rent got put up too high), and is now at Orchidville, 10 Lorong
Lada Hitam (off Mandai Road). Rather out of the way. But I highly recommend the
shop, if I may do so.

Morton Strange's shop "Natures Niche", in the Singapore Botanic Gardens is
worth a browse. Their book section of their website is at:
http://www.naturesniche.com/en/naturesbooks/books/birds/birds_asiaguides1/1/
Also, the Nature Society of Singapore has just published "The Avifauna of
Singapore", which looks to be a very useful book. You cna check it out at
http://www.nss.org.sg/ ; There is a link on the NSS site to their Bird Group
site, which is worth a look through for what has popped up lately in S'pore and
for info of birding sites there.

David,
While I agree with Paul that Craig Robson's book, "New Holland Field
Guide to the Birds of South-east Asia", is a great book, because it does not
give distribution maps & has the distribution and other details only in the
back, it can be difficult to use & sort out some species. While not in the
same class, Morten Strange's book, 'A Photographic Guide to the Birds of
South-East Asia' is a quick way to identify most species to be found in
Singapore. Also it is much cheaper than Robson's book and fairly easy to
obtain - especially in Singapore. I hope that Robson will soon produce a
book for Malaysia/Singapore etc that is like his outstanding book, 'Birds of
Thailand'. In it he has distribution maps, aids & notes like most world
Field Guides now have.
All the best,
