Greetings,
A low encephalation index may indicate lack of intelligence but as the emu
lives in a highly variable environment I doubt that they will be the
dumbest. Of course if all its needs can be met by instinct rather than
problem solving then it goes back to the top of the list.
Has anyone observed play in emus? I think that play indicates a need for
learning and may be a surrogate for intelligence.
While having no particular candidate in mind I would not look at social
species or ones with challenging life-styles.
