Hi all,
Just wanted to quickly share some interesting sightings from this morning at
Oxley Creek Common in Brisbane. I had two species I have never seen there
before, a pair of Nutmeg Mannikin near Pelican Lagoon, and four Cockatiel
flying past the same area. I believe the Cockatiel were wild birds, as they
were all wild type, strong-flying, and behaving exactly as I have seen wild
Cockatiel behaving.
I was also fortunate to see 7 species of raptor, including 5 in the last 5
mintues from the carpark as I was leaving. These species were Brown Falcon,
Black-shouldered Kite, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Swamp Harrier (juvenile),
Collared Sparrowhawk, Brahminy Kite, and Nankeen Kestrel.
In all, 68 species were seen in less than 2 hours, reconfirming this as one
of the best spots in suburban Brisbane to go birding.
Regards,
Chris
