Thanks for the replies. It would seem that there have been over 1/2
dozen sightings of Red-footed Boobies in NSW, the last being in 2008.
The Booby just 'appeared' at the boat, no-one saw it approaching. It was called then flew off to the north, into the sun, of course. A few minutes later, it was back and, most obligingly, flew close to the water along the southern side of the boat, at relatively close range.
