I got about 7 unanimous votes for Tawny Frogmouth. That seems reasonable,
although I've never actually seen one around here. Nice to know they do visit
sometimes.
I'm interested in the fact that the feather has a pointed tip. Is that a
common feature? I've never seen one before. Does it occur in many species?
I had guessed from the width of it that it was a breast feather, but no one
offered any opinion on that. A quick Google search found a picture of a Tawny
Frogmouth tail feather (p. 20 in Gisela Kaplan's "Tawny Frogmouth") which isn't
that different.

Would anyone like to have a go at identifying this feather?

I found it in Altona, Vic, I think early this year.
Unfortunately it sat in my bag for a couple of months and got stuck in the
zipper a few times, so all but the tip is frayed.
I don't know much about feathers, but I'm guessing from the shape that it's a
breast feather.
