Hi Penny

A couple of books are useful:

A photographic guide to the birds of Indonesia (2001) by Morten Strange - is
a good book but doesn't cover all species on Bali (or Indonesia). Copies
available in some bookshops on the island.

A field guide to the Birds of Borneo, Sumatra, Java and Bali (1993 and
reprinted 2008) by John McKinnon and Karen Phillips - is probably the most
comprehensive covering the region. Try Abebooks.com to purchase this.

Birds of Bali (1989) by V Mason and F Jarvis (don't know if still in print).

Hope this helps. I'd be interested in trip reports too if you are going.

Cheers
Marc
