On the 12th January 2009 I recorded 8 pairs of Fairy Terns nesting at Tuross Heads. 28th December there was 1 one pair of Fairy Terns nesting at Lake Conjola as well as a Fairy Tern partnered with a Little Tern. Since 2002 I have recorded Fairy Terns nesting at Lake Wallagoot, Tathra, Tuross Heads, Lake Conjola and Lake Wollumboola. The increasing numbers of Fairy Terns need to be monitored as they are more aggressive than Little Terns and they also mate with Little Terns.
