HI Chris,

The following is a repeat of a note that I posted on Birding-aus on January 27.

"In addition to the records at the Georges River that Peter refers to there have been three records in the Sydney area since 2000 to my knowledge. A pair was observed in flight at North Ryde on 25.10.04, a pair was at a dam near Bringelly on 06.12.05 and a single adult was seen at Werrington on 10.05.06.

The presence of a young bird in the Sydney area can easily be explained as a case of juvenile dispersal. One young bird that I colour-banded at Bulahdelah in 2003, which would have fledged in December 2003, was found
dead at Casino, North Coast NSW in April 2004, a distance of 400 km."
