Hi to all you North Queenslanders!

A visitor photographed a juvenile (3-4 weeks old) Little Tern on the Cairns Esplanage on Monday, Jan 19, 2009.

Does anyone in the Cairns area have any knowledge of
  • the whereabouts of the breeding colony,
  • the population size of the breeding colony
  • whether it was being monitored or even observed opportunistically through the breeding season, or
  • the degree of breeding success?
Any information at all would be warmly welcomed. I have known of Little Tern breeding in Cairns in the past, but not the details.

While I am at it, Bill (Moorhead), what happened at the Barubbra (Bundaberg) colony? Did you get fledglings? Last word from you, you had runners, if I remember correctly.

Cheers,

Jill
