Hi Jill, There is a pond on private property just past the shopping centre on the Palmwoods-Montville Rd (Sunshine Coast area) where Plumed Whistling-ducks congregate during the day - approximately 5-10. Quite often at night I hear them fly over my place. I too am almost sure they are Plumed particularly when I only see Plumed at the local watering hole. Its quite an interesting sound. It is quite common to hear them at night in northern Qld as they fly from place to place as they go out to feed.
