Hi Sean and All,

My appologies for reporting Spotted Sandpiper at Werribee, it was an
honest mistake and although it is no excuse I am over tired due to being
on the go since 4am this morning. The bird I meant to report was Wood
Sandpiper, a good bird none the less. Thanks Sean for picking this
mistake up so quickly,

Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul,

It is a good bird isn't it?
Before you get a howl of responses, I think you may want to correct Spotted
Sandpiper to Common Sandpiper. Though they look pretty similar, the Spotted
is the North American one and has never been seen here yet. The Common is
not so common down here and there used to be one that hung around on the
coast north of Little River but it seemed to disappear a few years ago.

Unless you really do mean Spotted in which case, bloody hell! You better get
some good pictures and now I would have to find time to get out to Werribee
again!

Happy new year,
Dools

Hi All,

I visited the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee, Victoria today and had great views of the Hudsonian Godwit at Walsh's Lagoon. The bird was present at Walsh's for most of the day, preening, feeding and occasionally flying around. Many visitors were able to see this wonderful bird. I managed to get a few photos from quite some distance away. The bird appears to be associating with Black-tailed Godwits and Bar-tailed Godwits.

Also saw Spotted Sandpiper on the pond between Lake Borrie and the coast.
