Here is a disturbing message I just received from Birdpedia. I don't
know the source, but assume it was a general media release.
I wonder what prompted it? Sad news for the many birdwatchers who
monitor these areas. Let's hope that Cheetham Salt at least continues
to open its property to formal periodic shorebird counts, etc. They
are a vital part of building the body of knowledge of our birdlife.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of Monday, January 12, 2009 all birdwatching and similar activites
within the Cheetham Salt - Dry Creek Saltfields and the Price
Saltfields, will be suspended until further notice pending the outcome
of liability and risk assessments of the sites.
This ban may also apply to other Cheetham properties throughout
Australia.
