To Mike Tarburton (and other swift watchers) a couple of late White-throated
Needletail records from NSW.
17th of December - Mungo Brush (Myall Lakes NP) Birds streaming south around
11:30AM with about 4 maximum seen at any one time. I counted about 30 before
they stopped but I am uncertain if any went past before I saw them. Waether
clear with light NE breeze.
20th December - Paynes Crossing (between Wollombi and Broke in the Hunter
Valley) - about a dozen birds circling high around 4PM - strong southerly and
some cloud but no rain (though threatening)
21st Decemebr - Paynes Crossing - again about a dozen birds circling high
around 7:30PM and then seen in smaller number still flying (lower) until dusk
(first stars were out). Southerly breeze but no cloud.
Cheers,
Peter
