Don,
Purple-crowned Lorikeets can often be found at the You Yangs, about 45
minutes drive to the west of Melbourne. Under normal circumstances, Ruth and
I would offer to take you there, but we're heading off overseas the day
before!
Regent Parrots are not found in the Melbourne area - you need to head to the
mallee district in the north-west of Victoria (Hattah-Kulkyne National Park
or Murray-Sunset National Park), or a little to the south of there
(Wyperfeld National Park or northern Little Desert National Park).

Subject: Regent Parrots and Purple Crowned Lorikeets
Hi Folks:
I will be in the Melbourne area as of December 23rd continuing my great
aussie parrot filming adventure. Any warm leads on where to find Purple
Crowned Lorikeets and Regent parrots in the area? Would especially
appreciate info on birds that come to parks/gardens and are accustomed to
seeing people.
Thanks !
Don Kimball
