Hi Australia birders,

Today saw the launch of a new branch of xeno-canto.org, for Europe (check out www.xeno-canto.org/europe). Xeno-canto is the largest online database with bird recordings which can be copied and distributed freely (noncommercially).
It hosts over 25000 recordings of some 5000 species.

Xeno-canto currently caters for all continents except Australia/ Oceania, but that will soon change. Hence this message. We are soon opening a new branch which will include Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.

If anyone is interested to contribute some material in early stages (testing out the site, making a first collection of sounds before opening to the public), then feel free to contact us.

In the mean time, enjoy the rest of xeno-canto! I will put announce the site here when it opens of course.

cheers,
Bob and Willem-Pier
