My department had its Christmas party in Victoria's Parliament Gardens last
Friday (12 Dec). This extensive area of lawns, exotic trees and garden
beds behind Parliament House is normally closed to the public but we get to
use it once a year.

I was one of the first to arrive and found a spot out of the rain under a
large Oak. A small bird hopping around the roots of the tree attracted my
attention and I was quite surprised to see that it was a White-browed
Scrubwren.

Parliament Gardens is surrounded by city buildings and formal gardens -
Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens - and I imagine the nearest place White-browed
Scrubwrens may be found is the Botanic Gardens
