After a few private replies i just want to point out that i wasn't at all trying to suggest any scepticism towards John or his photos/ findings.
I am just very jealous of those fortunate enough to have seen them :)

Thanks to those who answered my question though.

Cheers
Dave

What i find interesting is that he is happy to show people on his tours but won't let anyone else see them - especially people sceptical about his discovery who would have no basis for their scepticism if he showed them "publicly"???

I too look forward to seeing them.

PS - sorry for continuing this subject :)

Fig Parrots, Night Parrots and now another new bird!!

The Australian people can, as you say "look forward to hearing over
the next year about these latest discoveries"

I personally hope John Young did find a new Fig Parrot, has found
Night Parrots breeding like chickens on a spinifex plain somewhere out
west and has found another new species of an exotic north Queensland
bird.

And if these latest two are shrouded in as much mystery as the fig
parrot then the discussion on this forum is something to look forward
to!!

cheers

He showed us several photos of Coxen's Fig-Parrot including images
of a new
nest found in 2008 which has been collected under licence for
scientific
analysis. He's also been working hard on Night Parrot's for the last
18
months and what he has discovered is quite amazing and will be
revealed in
due course. He told us stories of his unique Australian bush
experiences
with these and other birds. His amazing discoveries are not finished. Expect more on the Night Parrot. And perhaps even more amazing, we saw
several photos of yet another new discovery under DNA analysis at
this very
moment. This makes at least three significant discoveries the
Australian
people can look forward to hearing more about over the next year or
so.
