The BA monthly count at Melbourne Water's Eastern Treatment Plant on Sunday
found some significant birds and bird numbers. Among the c. 7,000 birds of
79 species recorded were 2 Wedge-tailed Eagles, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 8
Glossy Ibis, 8 Baillon's Crakes, 8 Australian Spotted Crakes, 1 Spotless
Crake, 1 Black-tailed Native-hen, 2,900 Coots, 170 Black-winged Stilts, 22
Latham's Snipe, 4 Common Sandpipers, 6 Red-kneed Dotterels and 400
Sharp-tailed Sandpipers.
The Painted Snipe is still present at the nearby Edithvale Wetlands.
