This morning I received a call from a couple of visiting Dutch birders to notify that they saw a probable Black Tern in a flock of Whiskered at Samsonvale Cemetery. The bird is in first-winter plumage and both birders feel very confident in identifying all 3 species of 'Chlidonias' marsh terns so there must be a good chance that it is genuine. Currently Lake Samsonvale is rapidly filling after all the storms, so the terns have probably recently arrived. Will check it out myself this afternoon, Tom -- ******************************** Tom & Marie Tarrant Kobble Creek, Qld http://www.aviceda.org http://wildlife.vodpod.com/ ******************************** =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
