I had a similar experience earlier this year, also with Redthroat, at East
Nugadong Nature Reserve, east of Dalwalinnu, WA. I forget which call I was
playing, either Shy Heathwren or Southern Scrub-robin, but the first bird to
respond was a male Redthroat, which came in and performed just as Phil
described. I did see both the scrub-robin and the heathwren later but not
due to call playback.
