a personal EPIRB is now called a personal locator beacon as opposed to oneyou would take to sea. They are approx $500 and they are having theirfrequency changed so that you can be located in a life and death emergencymore quickly and more accurately than you could have been on the oldfrequency. Any personal locator beacon you buy now will be on the newfrequency. The old models will cease to operate at the end of this yearwhich means I have to get another one. I would never go remote without one.
