Hi all
another one for anybody tracking the progress of Brush Turkeys into Sydney's suburbs - here's one that might show a westward as well as southwards progress? I went to a friend's wedding at Auburn Botanic Gardens this afternoon, and was very surprised to see a single bird working a mound in the NW corner of the Japanese garden area. Not the sort of thing I was expecting to see in a fairly urbanised area - for the non-Sydney readers Auburn is a pretty densely occupied suburb in Sydney's west, not far from Homebush and Parramatta. I see that the gardens connect to the Parramatta River via the Duck Creek, but even that is not riparian bush all the way, There is a small fauna reserve at the gardens, so I suppose it could be an escapee from there(?), but otherwise quite a surprising sighting.
Cheers
Tom Wilson
