It is now quite a few years since I was involved in chasing the baddies but I do recall that a couple of active trappers were on the mailing list of a number of organizations just to get the locations of birds and nests. With the precise details given as to the location of the painted finch nest a dog with a white cane could find it . While it is great to share our information, it is wise to consider who else may be accessing the information and for what purpose. This is a general observation and not a claim as to the reason for the destruction of the nest.
