Heard my first Channel-billed Cuckoo of the season at Aberdare State Forest, approx. 40km west of Newcastle yesterday (11/09/08). Also, saw a pair of Gang-gang Cockatoos foraging and could hear Black-chinned Honeyeaters calling in a section of the State Forest near Pelton. Haven't heard any Koels as yet.
