RFI - lurida race of Boobook Owl

I will be in Cairns next month and would like to try to see the lurida race of 
Boobook - the so called Red Boobook.

Can anyone suggest any sites, other than high on Mt Lewis?  Unfortunately most 
trip reports don't mention which subspecies gets seen.
