Hi All,
We've just spent a fortnight travelling from Darwin through Kakadu to Kununurra
and up to the Mitchell Plateau. It was a wonderful trip with so many diverse
habitats and great birds,159 species in all. Following are some highlights:
Darwin
Little Ringed Plover at the sewage ponds [thanks Sheryl and Arthur]
Chestnut Rail - a pair feeding in the open opposite the boat ramp at Buffalo
Creek. Also at this lively spot, Striated Heron [rufous form],Common Sandpiper,
Azure and Sacred Kingfishers, Grey Whistler, Shining Flycatcher, Mangrove
Gerygone, Sea Eagle, Red-Headed HE.
Grey Goshawk- beside a nest in Tiwi.
Rose-crowned Fruit Dove
Howard Springs
Rainbow Pitta
Mary River Excavation Pits
Varied Lorikeets
Bardedjilidji Sandstone Walk
Chestnut-quilled Rock Pigeons
