Hi Russell,
Is that Mt Barker in WA? I had a feeling (or was it just wishful
thinking?) that there might be a Mt Barker closer to home for us, as
I'd love to see Aust. Bittern.

opposite side of the swale we searched for another 15 minutes or so

it had obviously gone elsewhere.
There were three other birders there of the non speaking variety, one
with a huge lens, but they didn't even look our way let alone speak,
so
we have no idea who they were or whether they saw the Bittern.
