And a new residence for our breeding New Holland Honeyeaters too. The
pair that bred 4 youngsters a couple of months ago did a strange ( well
I thought it strange or unusual anyway), thing. After the young had
fledged and flown the parents proceeded to take the nest apart but still
hung around outside my lounge room window in the pittosporum bush they
had nested in. Today I discovered that they now have a new nest in a 2.5
ft ball of trained lilly pilly right next to the pittosporum. The ball
is only 4ft off the ground so I was able to peer in from the top and
found two tiny babies, yellow gapes gawking open at me. Mum and dad got
a bit anxious at my intrusion so I backed off sharpish. Excellent that
they are having another brood.
