Hi all,

I just wanted to get some feedback about over-wintering Red-Bellied
Pitta (also known elsewhere as the Blue-breasted or Macklot's Pitta).

There seems to be mixed suggestions about this. Some people suggest they
don't, while other say they do over-winter in small numbers, going quiet
outside the breeding period (which starts in Australia in October). I
can find a record of RBP in one survey at the Iron Range NP between the
period 18/05/2003 to 3/06/2003, and what may be a late record on
7/3/2005.

Any ideas? Any recent winter and or spring records?

Cheers,

Tim Dolby
