While I was observing my first ever Diamond Dove (pair) near Powells Lane
Richmond yesterday near and in a large tree. I heard some commotion from
behind me.

What was remarkable though is the Magpie?s call that I heard and as I turned
around I saw a quick flash of black and white as it swiftly swopped upwards
into a safe perch in the tree before me and the brown/cream raptor that
immediately
followed, albeit glided underneath the tree then rose upwards at a sharp
angle to give me enough view to identify it as Peregrine Falcon and with
its bruised ego it flew on at a nice easy pace. All this within 30 feet from
where I stood. I was breath and speechless. Of course it happened so fast
that I could not even raise my telephoto and camera to capture a fleeting
glimpse of one of my favorite raptors. Ah well, at least I got some other
nice images from my outing.

OK, and while kangaroos hardly qualify as birds, a couple from near my place
in Cambridge Gardens. These were captured alongside Dunheved Road in the
bush. No, they are definitely NOT tame. People must have been laughing at
me in my ghillie suit. 
