Dear Frank

Here in Bayside, Melbourne (mainly at Ricketts Point), we recorded what appeared to be scaly-breastedXmusk lorikeets between 1997 and 2002. One was sharing a nesting hollow with a Scaly.

But inter-breeding between Rainbows and Scalys (which I think Forshaw said might be one species anyhow) is so frequent at Ricketts Point that I wonder if any of the Scalys is pure bred.

Incidentally in the 1970s a Little Lorikeet was reported to be sharing a nest with a Rainbow - no offspring were noticed..
