Steve,
The car park is located as shown above.
The Des Renford Pool would not hold Humpbacks as the tile colours (bright
red) clash with the more somber blues, greys and whites of the Humpbacks and
we all know what fashionistas the Humpies can be - there is also the poo
problem (the kids not the whales). Threshers have only been recorded at Des
Renford once, during the now infamous LSD in the water trials in 1969 (see
Hallucinogenic Effects on a Random Sample of Children between 2 and 12 years
old. Hendrix, J., Floyd P. et al. 1970. Journal of Applied Psychotropic
Agents pp 67-75.). Northern Giant-Petrels are too afraid of the 'Bra Boys to
venture inland, having been allegedly ejected from the Surf Life-Saving Club
in 1995 for mistakenly snorting the toilet bleach (Abberton, K. et al).
Cheers,
Graham

G'day Graham
I hate to mention this, but your highly precise location details don't
work. If I go to Google Earth and search on your details I'm offered
strange places all over the globe. If I search for swimming pool
Maroubra I get offered the Maroubra swimming school and the Des
Renford pool. Neither points are actually indicating swimming pools
but suburban houses (this is of course not your doing and I don't want
to start in on a rant about people who put things in the wrong places
on Google Earth).
There is a pool on the corner of Jersey Road and Robey Streets. It
has a nice big car-park and appears to be in the correct Milky Way
quadrant. However it is nearly 2 km inland. Is this where you saw
the Northern Giant Petrel and a shark and Humpback Whales?
I'd like to see locations indicated with a Google Earth .kmz file as
proposed by Russell Woodford recently (see attached).
Cheers
Steve
