Victoria's Green Paper on invasive species has been released. I encourage
Victorian readers to make a submission. To find out more and make a
submission go to the Victoria Naturally Website at
http://www.victorianaturally.org.au/. Submissions are due 30 June.
My suggestion include:- A permitted list system would be much better than a prohibited list system.Importers should have to pay a bond for introductions and be held liable for their escape and damage to the environment. This could be on a sliding scale and refunded after review by a scientific panel ten years later or held if the species, form or hybrid has not proved itself to not be a problem.
